Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 3 - Intro.

In late 2016, Funko announced their third series of the Horror Classics. It was quite a surprise to many, as they were announced them in August 2016 and then released about three weeks later!

This series of Funko's Horror Classics Mystery Mini kept us busy in 2016 (and late 2017). It took a mixture of Series 1 and 2 by choosing characters of movies and other mediums within the slasher, comedy, and even non-horror genres. There were characters from modern and classic movies, leaving a good mix of familiarity with the popular line. On top of this, they added characters to match previous characters of Series 1 and 2 (Adam and Barbra from Beetlejuice, and Tiffany from The Bride of Chucky). Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Quidd

Last Updated: 08/10/2018

Recently I've discovered there is an application called Quidd which has 3D models of FNaF Mystery Minis. (you have to download it as an app through Google Play or Apple).
Source: https://quidd.co/
(I'm not sponsoring Quidd or anything, just posting what I found)

It is pretty neat in it's own right, but what interest me is there are several models of unreleased figures. You can select a figure and rotate it around in a 3D space, along with zooming in and out. If this interests you, I'd totally recommend trying this app out if you can. It's free and you can preview the figures you don't have, so no need to rush to collect them. How I came across Quidd was other people online posting about some of these unreleased figures, such as Bidybab. Below are each of the box collections with a picture of the figures, their names, and their quote.

Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Intro.

In August 2014, a game was released which started a franchise that bloomed in popularity. That game was Five Nights at Freddy's. I was a fan of the game since day one, finding it creepy and interesting for what it was. It was a game series that I was anticipating merchandise of for a little while. I didn't have to wait long, nor the many that also were craving merchandise, because Funko jumped on that train when they announced a ton of merchandise in early 2015. Some of that merchandise was a line of Mystery Minis.

In January 2015, a Funko catalog was leaked which contained early promotional images of the Mystery Minis, seen below. Big thanks to Negaduck9 for saving this image. It was really hard to find in this high of quality.

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 2 - Review (Part 1)

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out the Introduction Post)

There are 20 figures in total within Funko's Horror Classic's Series 2 Mystery Mini set. This review will be broken into parts, where Part 1 will cover the first 10. I'll list them in order of date of first appearance. However, Alfred Hitchcock kind of throws a wrench in that plan. To mend this I'll treat Alfred Hitchcock as 'first appearing' in his television show "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (1955). Likewise, I'll say Cthulhu first appeared in H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Call of Cthulhu" as part of the magazine Weird Tales (1928).
Alrighty then, let's get right on into those figures!

Character: Graf Orlok (Count Orlok)
Appearance: Nosferatu (movie, 1922)
Rarity: 1/24
One of the, if not the, oldest vampire to show up in movie history. This figure is great for several reasons. It captures his creepy vibe, the pose is nice, and the figure is on the taller side too! The small detailed fangs are neat, and how they made his fingers extra long and pointy. A character that can't get any more 'horror classic' than this! Now I'll be waiting for another classic: Dr. Caligari! Those Germans and their cool horror movie monsters!

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 2 - Intro.

The success of Funko's Horror Classics Mystery Minis first series brought another series of little movie monsters. In 2015 Funko revealed Series 2 within their annual catalog. Below is a scan from that catalog:

Godzilla - Chibi SD 2013 Figures

In 2013 at the New York Toy Fair, Bandai America revealed a new line of figures to add to their Godzilla line: 2 inch Chibi SD Figures. Chibi figures of Godzilla characters have had a good following in Japan, but this was something not really seen outside that country. In my opinion the Bandai America line was starting to go stronger around this time with the release of King Caesar and re-releases of previously popular molds. It quickly let me and other fans down as they didn't follow-up on products, and teased but never delivered. They did, although quick lived, deliver well with their small Chibi line.

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Review (Part 2), Conclusion

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out my Introduction and Review (Part 1) posts)

In my last Post, I went over 10 of the 16 figures in the Horror Classics Series 1. I will now go over the last 6 and also give my final thoughts at the end.

---
Character: Chucky (Scarred)
Appearance: Bride of Chucky (movie, 1998)
Rarity: 1/144
Another very rare variant, this time of Chucky in his fourth movie. The scar effects blend really well into the figure. I was very impressed with the regular Chucky figure, so these little scars add even more impressive detail!

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 4 - Predictions, Thoughts

Last Updated: 08/01/2018

I thought it would be fun to try my guess at the potential next Series in the Horror Classics Mystery Mini line by Funko. In 2014 we got Series 1, 2015 Series 2, 2016 and 2017 Series 3. In 2018, what can we expect?

I thought I could try my hand at predicting what could be in store for Series 4. These predictions are based on previous series, other Funko products, and some wild speculation on my part. Let's get into it!

The best starting place are the scrapped designs from Series 3:

Norman Bates from Psycho (1960), and Carrie White from Carrie (1976) were both scrapped from Series 3 due to licensing issues (see left images for their concept art).

Recently we've received merchandise of both these characters, meaning this may not be an issue if they made a Series 4!

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Review (Part 1)

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out my Introduction post to this toy line)

One of the things I really appreciate in the Horror Classics line is how diverse the character choices are. You didn't just get Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, and a few variations of them. Funko was able to pull in something the likes of NECA and McFarlane have done in the past within one single toy line. The Horror Classics line was surely off to a great start with this stellar roster!

There are 16 figures in Series 1.
Here are the first 10, in order of appearance.
---
Character: Leatherface
Appearance: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (movie, 1974)
Rarity: 2/24
This figure shows off how cute they can make deadly movie horror icons. He's hefty just like he is in the movie. My favorite detail besides the crooked smile is his arm hairs. The pose is great too, like he's just waiting to pull the cord. He is one of my favorites in this series due to how large and detailed he came out.

Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Intro.

In 2013, Funko announced a new line of toy products: Blind Box Mystery Minis. Around this time blind boxes and blind bags were very popular, so it made sense for Funko to try their hand at it. There were several other lines being introduced, such as The Walking Dead, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Hello Kitty. Each was placed inside a Box that contained the figure, usually in the 2 to 2.5 inch scale. The toys that caught my eyes were the Horror Classics.

Introduction

Hello,

Thank you visiting my page!  This will be a toy reviewing blog dedicated to covering action figures, small figurines, and other oddities out there.  I'll be dedicated to several toy lines, but may pick and choose from others.

Please enjoy!
