Horror Classics Mystery Minis - Series 3 - Intro.

In late 2016, Funko announced their third series of the Horror Classics. It was quite a surprise to many, as they were announced them in August 2016 and then released about three weeks later!

This series of Funko's Horror Classics Mystery Mini kept us busy in 2016 (and late 2017). It took a mixture of Series 1 and 2 by choosing characters of movies and other mediums within the slasher, comedy, and even non-horror genres. There were characters from modern and classic movies, leaving a good mix of familiarity with the popular line. On top of this, they added characters to match previous characters of Series 1 and 2 (Adam and Barbra from Beetlejuice, and Tiffany from The Bride of Chucky). The original release of this series was in 2016 with a regular case and the infamous Hot Topic exclusive case. Fortunately the Hot Topic exclusives were 1/12 and 1/24 to lessen the blow.

Shortly after the reveal and release of the Mystery Minis there was concept art showing off several characters that weren't released. This included a Terror Dog from Ghostbusters, Alex DeLarge with his mask, Norman Bates from Psycho, and Carrie from Carrie. The former two were later released in a surprise 2017 re-release in a Walgreens exclusive case. The Walgreens case had an entirely different distribution rarity than the regular and Hot Topic cases as well. The Walgreens figures had a surprising approach to the series in 2017. They were released late September/early October with their Halloween merchandise. The odds were all changed, making several of the rarer figures as 1/12. There were four new figures: Terror Dog, Terror Dog (stone variant), Jack Torrence (frozen variant), and Alex DeLarge (mask variant). It was very nice to have those unreleased figures with two new surprises! It seems that several places also resold the regular case of the Horror Series 3. In 2017 Hot Topic unfortunately didn't bring back their exclusive case, but did sell regular cases online. As of this time there seems to exist no promotional artwork for the 2017 Walgreens set outside of what is seen in the boxes and cases of the product itself. If anything comes out I'll try to post that artwork here.

Stay tuned for future reviews of these figures! Thanks!
