In this review, I'll be going over the first part of the FNaF Series 3 Mystery Minis. This series included characters from (inhale):
• Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (FNaF 2)
• Five Nights at Freddy's 4 (FNaF 4)
• FNaF 4: Halloween Update (FNaF 4: HU)
• FNaF: Sister Location (FNaF: SL)
• FNaF: Sister Location: Custom Night Update (FNaF: SL: CNU)
• FNaF: The Silver Eyes (FNaF: TSE)
• FNaF: The Twisted Ones (FNaF: TTO)
(exhale) Whew! What a varied wave! I'll go through each character based on their first appearance in the games or date (with some flexibility). I'll start with the first 12 (based off the games), then finish off with the last 9 in the next review (based off the novel illustrations). Hope you enjoy!
Note: Some of the names I'm listing are not official. They are sometimes based off what I think is most appropriate, or what other more official sources may call them (ex. Scott Cawthon, Funko, Quidd).
Character: Paper Plate Pals Appearance: FNaF 2 Rarity: 1/72 (Gamestop Only) |
|
These are the three Paper Plates that hung in FNaF 2. They later showed up as characters in FNaF World. They are a very strange, but equally creative, addition to the line. I like how small and accurate they are. Only thing missing was the hat on the Freddy one. They are posed with a slight curvature so that they don't fall over easily when standing. |
Character: Nightmare Appearance: FNaF 4 / FNaF: TTO Rarity: 1/24 (Hot Topic Only) |
|
This is Nightmare based on both how he looks in FNaF 4 and the cover of FNaF: TTO. I say that because he's translucent in FNaF 4 but colored black in FNaF: TTO (and FNaF World). The eyes on him are different, more beady, than the previous Nightmare figures. This trend continued with Jack-O-Bonnie. I like it, but also don't the discontinuity. Also there are no teeth on in his torse. It's a great figure though, and one of my favorites! |
Character: Jack-O-Bonnie Appearance: FNaF 4: HU Rarity: 1/36 (Walmart Only) |
|
Jack-O-Bonnie has joined the line! I was super happy to see this as it felt weird with Jack-O-Chica but no Jack-O-Bonnie. Like Nightmare, this figure takes a slightly different approach than other Nightmare characters. Instead of a shiny light gray color for metal, it is a matte dark gray. Instead of the eyes being filled in, there are two pupils. Neither of those seemed to fit the design of Jack-O-Chica, but the rest seems pretty spot-on. Regardless of those choices I like the figure. It also glows in the dark like Jack-O-Chica does. |
Character: Yenndo Appearance: FNaF: SL Rarity: 1/24 |
|
First seen as an easter egg in Sister Location, it later was featured in the FNaF: SL CNU. It has a nice amount of detail, and I like how the hands are larger like they are in the game. It is a very accurate representation of the character in this form! |
Character: Bon-Bon Appearance: FNaF: SL Rarity: 1/36 (Retail Only) |
|
There was a Bon-Bon attached to the Funtime Freddy figure in Series 2, but now he has his own figure! I'm pretty happy with this figure too. Bon-Bon was one of my favorite parts of SL (even though he scared me in Night 3). This figure looks like a larger scale version of the Funtime Freddy one, and you can turn the head this time. I really like how it turned out. |
Character: Ennard (Fake End) Appearance: FNaF: SL Rarity: 1/24 (Retail Only) |
|
To my understanding, this is Ennard based on his appearance while crawling on the floor in the Fake End of FNaF:SL. It's one of my favorites of this series with how it looks and how detailed it is. There is some additional detail on the back side of this figure that the Ennard in Series 2 didn't have. The face is spot-on, as well as the little details of the eyes. I like how it's posed too! |
Character: Little Joe Appearance: FNaF: SL Rarity: 1/24 |
|
The doll seen in Circus Baby's room in FNaF:SL also got a figure. It's name wasn't provided until Scott Cawthon (creator of the games) provided an image of the in-game model with it's name displayed. There's also a character named 'Lollie' in FFPS that looks very similar to it. Based on the pose and design, this is more based on Little Joe. It's a neat figure. |
Character: Magician Toy Appearance: FNaF: SL Rarity: 1/24 |
|
Similar to Little Joe, this is the other doll seen in FNaF:SL. It's name also wasn't provided until later on outside of the game. Sometimes it's referred to as 'Magician' or 'Magician Doll', either way I think the point is made. It's a neat, creepy design like Little Joe to add to the collection! |
Character: Bonnet Appearance: FNaF SL: CNU Rarity: 1/36 (Hot Topic Only) |
|
Moving into the Custom Night Update for FNaF:SL, we get Bonnet! It's a recolor of Bon-Bon and is featured in UCN later on. This figure is also a recolor of Bon-Bon, only the torso is mirrored so the left and right hands are switched. I'm glad they gave this extra attention to the figure, which gives it some more personality instead of being a simple recolor. Nice job Funko! |
Character: Lolbit Appearance: FNaF: SL: CNU Rarity: 1/24 (Walmart Only) |
|
Ah, one of my favorites of the series! It is based on Lolbit as seen in FNaF:SL CNU. We see a Lolbit mask in FNaF:SL as an easter egg, but this figure is shown as Lolbit in the television. This fourth-wall breaking character is captured excellently. Funko did the same for a POP of this character earlier that year. It's head is a fully modeled, scaled down version of Funtime Foxy's (with the back side cut off) to make it seem like it's popping out of the screen. The television makes it a larger sized figure, barely fitting into the Mystery Mini box. A very unique addition to the line! |
Character: Dark Springtrap Appearance: FNaF: SL: CNU Rarity: 1/24 |
|
This is based off Springtrap in the FNaF:SL: UCN ending, where you see Springtrap for a brief second walking around burnt in Fazbear Fright. This is a character not acknowledged in the games, but Scott C. did approve it's merchandise. Personally I love that they made it and even got the POP figure of it! This figure is just like the Springtrap from Series 1 in terms of sculpt, but with a new paintjob to represent the shadowy, burnt look. It's great to see even the most obscure and unacknowledged characters/things get represented in this line! |
That wraps up the first part of Series 3! Not to beat a dead horse, but man the team at Funko that works these figures does a great job of bringing almost all the characters, even obscure ones, out as figures! We get to see more obscurity as we probe into Part 2 of the review with the novel characters!
Until then, thanks for your time and have a good one!
