In the last review, we went over the first 12 figures in the FNaF Series 3 Mystery Minis. These last 9 are based off of artwork for characters in the FNaF: The Silver Eyes and FNaF: The Twisted Ones. The artwork for the three toys in The Silver Eyes (who also were in The Twisted Ones) were posted in The Freddy Files book. The artwork for the five Twisted animatronics were based off the promotional artwork used for the books. The only one I am not sure on is the Springtrap. There is no (published) promotional art for him besides the recent The Fourth Closet poster artwork. The figure itself seems to be based off his demise in The Silver Eyes versus his resurgence in The Twisted Ones in my opinion due to the anguished look on him. Based off that alone I'll say he's based off The Silver Eyes appearance.
Anyways, enough rambling about continuity and designs, onto the review!
Character: Stanley Appearance: FNaF: TSE Rarity: 1/72 (Hot Topic only) |
|
This is Stanley, the Unicorn toy Charlie owned in The Silver Eyes. It's worn down state is nicely depicted in this figure based off it's artwork. It's a larger figure with some heft to it. The paint is is nicely applied and clean (at least on my figure). It's probably the least stylized of the toy minis because of it's design, but it still really fits right in with them. It's a great figure of a good design. |
Character: Ella Appearance: FNaF: TSE Rarity: 1/72 (Walmart only) |
|
This is Ella, Charlie's doll in The Silver Eyes. It's based off her promo artwork in The Freddy Files. The figure itself is smaller, but the details are all still there! I like the pose and translation of the artwork into the figure. Design wise the toys stand out from the other characters, but these mystery minis feel perfectly in synch (if that makes any sense). I love how they made her mini and glad to see these toys have their own merchandise! |
Character: Springtrap (Afton) Appearance: FNaF: TSE (?) Rarity: 1/72 (Retail only) |
|
|
I have a lot to say about this figure. This character is called 'Afton', but is technically Springtrap. I don't like the blood details, something FNaF never really delves into as a series. Springtrap on the other hand is the most gruesome character, so they depicted him well here. This is the first FNaF mystery mini to depict gore, and I hope it to also be the last... not a fan of gore. The figure itself is great though, with many subtle details around the suit. It borrows the Series 1 Springtrap design with a few differences (coloration mostly). The figure depicts it as a suit rather than the animatronic. I like how the eyes are sunken in the suit versus the Series 1 Springtrap eyes being projected, nodding to the actual 'eyes' being the person in the suit when sealed up. It's a really subtle detail I bet the artist intended. Afton himself is the very first human character to be shown as a mystery mini in this style too. I think it translated really well. |
Character: Twisted Freddy Appearance: FNaF: TTO Rarity: 1/6 |
|
This is based off the artwork of Twisted Freddy for The Twisted Ones book. Its a neat figure, with the teeth going around the large side of the figure. I like how the somewhat strange artwork was translated to this mini. I didn't care for the Twisted animatronic designs, but think the minis make me care for them more. The details for the Twisted minis are great for such as small figure, and the Twisted Freddy really exemplifies this! |
Character: Twisted Bonnie Appearance: FNaF: TTO Rarity: 1/6 |
|
This is also based off the artwork for The Twisted Ones. It isn't purple like the promo art seems to show. It seems that Bonnie has been changing from purple to blue more lately, so maybe this is just an example of this. Otherwise the figure is really well detailed and accurate to how it's mini may look based off the artwork. |
Character: Twisted Chica Appearance: FNaF: TTO (concept art) Rarity: 1/6 |
|
Twisted Chica has an interesting existence. It doesn't appear in any of the books, but artwork of it exists by the The Twisted Ones artist. Funko made merchandise based off the official artwork, thus where this mini comes from. I like the insane details in the mini as it depicted from the artwork. You can even see the cupcake on the torso. |
Character: Twisted Foxy Appearance: FNaF: TTO Rarity: 1/6 |
|
Twisted Foxy is seen as it's rising out of the ground, like it's artwork. I kind of wish we saw it outside of the ground as a variant too, but I'm very happy they made this mini! It's a very creepy looking Foxy, very different from it's other depictions (like the other Twisted ones). It stands at about the same height as the other minis. It's a neat figure. |
Character: Twisted Wolf Appearance: FNaF: TTO Rarity: 1/12 |
|
The Twisted Wolf is a new animatronic that came from The Twisted Ones. The mini again is based off the artwork. Like the Twisted Foxy one, I wish there was a variant of this one, perhaps as the animatronic or as the organic look, not both. The figure itself is very welcome as I really like the Twisted Wolf design. It's different than Foxy, yet still fits in with the other animatronics. This mini is one of my favorites from the series! |
Conclusion
That's a wrap on Series 3! It was a very mixed series in terms of variety of characters. The designs of the novel characters seemed to translate well into the Mystery Minis design. The design choices for others, like Nightmare and Jack-O-Bonnie, seemed to take on a new approach to previous designs. I guess it depends on your tastes on designs changing in consistency either for improving previous design or more freedom due to a larger budget. I'm very happy with how Series 3 turned out for the most part. I hope to see some of the missing characters not made into Mystery Minis in a future series still.
Now to address the elephant in the room: the rarities for this series. Each case had four 1/6 figures, meaning each case had at least four duplicates. This means with each case you automatically get 8 unique figures and four duplicates, with only one figure being an 'exclusive'. Talk about a kick at the fans. I'm sure there was a reason for the 1/6 though. The more figures they fabricate, the lower the costs get. With many of these figures, especially the Twisted Ones, being highly detailed, they probably had to either cut some characters from the assortment, or increase the odds of certain figures due to how many they'd need to make. At least they made the Twisted Ones the common ones instead of having to chase them down. Making the exclusives one per case though? That's something I don't think is very consumer friendly, especially with how common knowledge it is how the case layouts and rarities work. They should change to better odds or else they'll end up with many leftovers at stores and turn away fans over time. I get it, they need to make a profit and making chase figures is a way to do that. I'm just sure there's a happy medium for making a profit and making the fans satisfied like Series 1 (and arguably Series 2) did.
Onto the ratings once more: I'll rate who I think are the top 5 best figures in terms of quality, design, etc. and then my personal top 5 favorite figures.
Top 5 Bests:
1. Ennard (Fake End)
2. Twisted Foxy
3. Twisted Wolf

Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis must be doing great since they made another series later this year. I'll cover those in a future review, so please look forward to that! Thank you again for those out there reading this! Have a good one!
