Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Series Glow 1 - Review, Conclusion

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out the Introduction Post)

This is the review of the Series 1 Glow Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis. While nice figures, this review itself will be fairly bare bones compared to the last series. I'll make note of some of the decisions for the green motif, and review them in order of appearance in the series.

Character: Freddy Fazbear (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
This is the bear that started it all, Freddy Faz-wait what happened to you? Green belly and ears. Kept the black hat and bow tie, classic!

Character: Bonnie the Rabbit (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
The guitar and bow tie are colored for him, even green eye lids. The arms are a little lighter for some reason, not sure if that was a production error or not. Still looks great!

Character: Chica the Chicken (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
The feet and beaks are green. The bib is the same which is neat. Great pose as always.

Character: Foxy the Pirate (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
Green eye liner, muzzle, and pants. I like how they kept the silver/metal parts too. Looks good.

Character: Golden Freddy (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
Green belly, ears, and all else clear. I like the decision since Golden Freddy's more ghost-like in character.

Character: Toy Freddy (Glow v2)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
Green eye lid, cheek, belly, and ears. Also a green stripe around the hat. I like that they colored the whiskers too. This is the second glow version of Toy Freddy (see Series 1). It is distinctive enough from the first glow figure to tell them apart.

Character: Toy Bonnie (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
Green cheeks, eye lids, belly, and ears. The eyes on Toy Bonnie are green so they didn't change that. Like Toy Freddy, I like that they colored the whiskers.

Character: Mangle (Funtime Foxy) (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
They made her eye lids green, as well as her muzzle, make-up, ears, cheeks, belly, and bow tie. They made her arms and feet metallic, which was creative for Mangle. Looks pretty good.

Character: Marionette (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
This is the most interesting one to me. They made its body green instead of translucent, and kept the white stripes. Buttons were changed to white, and the head is also white (except for the mask portion). The rest of him is green, except for the mask. Really neat and interesting decision.

Character: Balloon Boy (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
Basically they made everything green except the alternate stripes and his skin portions. His hair was changed to black though. Similar to Marionette, they put some extra work into this one. I like how it turned out.

Character: Cupcake (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
The cupcake now has a green motif, except for the blue eyes. The alternate stripes aren't present, giving the translucent look to it.

Character: Springtrap
Appearance: FNaF 3
Rarity: 1/12
This is one of my favorites. All the marks are colored black along with the wires. The belly, ears, and eye lids are colored green. It looks nice with all the black against the translucent white.

Conclusion

A neat series and had some unique design choices. They actually glow pretty decently in the dark. I'd recommend not constantly keeping them exposed to sunlight too long though. I'll give my rankings as Best and Favorites (1 being top):

Top 5 Best:
1. Springtrap (Glow)
2. Marionette (Glow)
3. Balloon Boy (Glow)
4. Cupcake (Glow)
5. Mangle (Funtime) (Glow)

Top 5 Favorites:
1. Springtrap (Glow)
2. Marionette (Glow)
3. Mangle (Funtime) (Glow)
4. Foxy (Glow)
5. Toy Bonnie (Glow)

I hope you enjoyed the review.  Keep on the look out for Series 2's reviews in the future! Thanks again!

Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Series Glow 1 - Intro.

After the success of the first series of the Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis, we got a re-release of several figures in glow-in-the-dark variations. I was never quite clear on what to call this series, so I just call it "Series Glow 1" (in case they ever do this again in the future). It was an interesting decision to me, considering how they could have made a few more new characters instead of re-using the same molds. We also got two glow-in-the-dark variants in the first series (although are slightly different than these). Fortunately this new series had 12 figures with 1/12 rarities, meaning you could complete the series with only one case!

Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Review (Part 2), Conclusion

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out the Introduction Post and Part1)

This is a continuation of the the first series of the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF) line of mystery minis. We reviewed the first 12 of the 20 figures in the first part, so lets get into the last 8 figures in this part.

Character: Shadow Freddy
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/36 (Hot Topic only)
To my knowledge, this is based on the Shadow Freddy in FNaF 2 and not the one in FNaF 3's minigame (more details on this analysis in the Intro. post). The figure is great and has a very mischievous look to it with the solid white eyes. Although I would prefer a sitting pose, it still looks good! Also note that it has a very dark navy/velvet color.

Character: Marionnette
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
They captured its design and appearance wonderfully! I like how they posed the hands and gave it some pudge around the waist to add to the super-deformed proportions. The tiny paint around the arms and legs is impressive. It is easily one of my favorites of this series. It would be neat to make a little box for him to pop out of like the POP they later released!

Character: Balloon Boy
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
Hello! Balloon Boy is captured well in this figure. They gave him a lot of detail in the clothing and balloon itself. In fact, I'd argue this is the one with the most detail of all the figures in the set due to Balloon Boy's design. It may be easy to overlook the figure, it definitely had much care and work put into it's design and fabrication.

Character: Endoskeleton
Appearance: FNaF 2 (?)
Rarity: 1/36
This seems to be based off the Endoskeleton from FNaF 2, but it has a tie, hat, looks more like Freddy. I'd like to say it' could be a unique Funko creation (like the Mangle figure in this series). Still, not 100% sure, the intention could have been FNAF 2. I'll say it's the FNaF 2 Endoskeleton based off how the design looks, ignoring the bowtie and hat. Either way, it's a great figure!

Character: Cupcake
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12
This cupcake is based off the one you see Toy Chica holding in FNaF 2.  It is nearly identical to the one in the game. It's interesting they went with this one versus the one in the first game (as seen in the Quidd application), but I like it. Not much else to say. Maybe they will bring us more Cupcake variants in the future?

Character: Crying Child
Appearance: FNaF 2 / FNaF 3
Rarity: 1/36
This is based off the sprite used for the crying children briefly seen in FNaF 2 and more prominently seen in FNaF 3. The 'tears' were originally going to be gray like the game, but were switched to blue to clarify the crying tears. I think it's a bizarre choice for a figure, yet being so important to the store it does make sense.

Character: Springtrap
Appearance: FNaF 3
Rarity: 1/12
The villain himself, Springtrap! I think they did a wonderful job with this figure and were able to capture his cute but creepy look. He has a lot of wear marks sculpted and painted around the figure. The wires are a nice touch, as well as the different stylized eyes to represent a person underneath the mask. Very well done!

Character: Shadow Bonnie / Purple Bonnie
Appearance: FNaF 3
Rarity: 1/12 (Hot Topic only)
While it's called "Purple Bonnie", it could be called "Shadow Bonnie" per the Funko POP! and Pint Size Hero that looks like this figure. It also seems to be strongly based off the one in the FNaF 3 minigames. More discussion in the Intro. post. Anyway, the figures is nicely detailed, and I like the two tone purple used!

Conclusion

Overall the figures are really well made (on occasions there are quality control issues though). The selection of characters is great, and most of the design choices are fantastic. I would have preferred we got the Toys standing up instead of sitting, but the direction works at the same time.

This series did well enough to warrant a second series of figures, and later a third. We didn't get the Withered, Phantoms, and some of the more obscure characters from FNaF 2 or 3, but we did get a pretty hefty selection otherwise. Later Funko released some figures of FNaF 2 characters in different series.

Below I listed my personal ranking of the top five figures in terms of quality/design/creativity. I've broken this into a list of what I think are the best of the series, and what I consider to be my favorites (#1 being the top).

Top 5 Best:
1. Springtrap
2. Bonnie
3. Endoskeleton
4. Foxy
5. Freddy

Top 5 Favorites:
1. Mangle
2. Freddy
3. Foxy
4. Marionette
5. Springtrap

I hope you enjoyed this review!  I may update this post later with more pictures. For now, thank you again for your time. Look forward to more reviews of FNaF mystery minis and more on my blog! Thanks!

Five Nights at Freddy's Mystery Minis - Series 1 - Review (Part 1)

(If you haven't already, feel free to check out the Introduction Post)

This is the first series of the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF) line of mystery minis. This series included characters from FNaF, FNaF 2, and FNaF 3. Most of the cast from each game appear, including some obscure characters.  I'll review each figure in order of their appearance per game order. There are a few characters I'm not quite sure where to put, so I placed them where I felt was most appropriate. The same goes for some of the names of figures. There are 20 figures in the first series, so I'll do the first 12 in this review and the remaining 8 in the next.

Before I begin, I'd like to point out I'm adding slightly large watermarks to my images this time. In the past, I had the unpleasant experience of people claiming my work as their own as well questioning the authenticity of the data I provided in said work (for FNaF figure images). I don't like using watermarks, but feel they are necessary most of the time, especially for these series of figures and how I'm reviewing them.

Now that out of the way, we can get into the review already!

Character: Freddy Fazbear
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
This is the bear that started it all, Freddy Fazbear! The figure is neat and he comes with his microphone. He is holding the microphone in the wrong hand, and his ears are slightly big, but otherwise I think he looks great! A must have for any fan of the series!

Character: Bonnie the Rabbit
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
This is a neat figure, coming with the guitar like how you see Bonnie on stage. It even has a small tail on the back. There are no bends in the ears like we see in other Bonnie figures, but I think that's okay. The guitar is detailed well and the pose is solid.

Character: Chica the Chicken
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12 (Retail and Hot Topic only)
I like how they stylized wings on Chica's arms and feathers on her face, even though it's not like that in the game. It makes me think that would have been neat to see as Chica's original design. The printing on the bib is nicely applied and is an easy detail to overlook. The pose is also great too.

Character: Foxy the Pirate
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12
He's captured very well in this set! I like his fierce expression, and the hook being raised up a bit. Also there are some subtle details like the wear marks around his body and pants. He's a favorite character of mine, so I'm glad they did him justice in the figure.

Character: Golden Freddy
Appearance: FNaF
Rarity: 1/12 (Retail and Walmart only)
The menacing and mysterious Golden Freddy is captured greatly in this figure. The shadow effect around the eyes is well done. The ears are also slightly smaller than Freddy's ears, and are more accurate in my opinion. Good figure overall!

Character: Toy Freddy
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Retail and Hot Topic only)
Just as adorable and terrifying as he was in the games. His eyes are blacked out, similar to how he appears in part of the game. Although I'd prefer them white like Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica, it does make him stand out from the cast and other Freddy figures. I think they nailed it with this figure!

Character: Toy Freddy (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Walmart only)
This is a glow-in-the-dark variant of the regular Toy Freddy.  This is an original design Funko made themselves as it's not in the games. He does glow fairly well, just not much else to say about him. They made another glow Toy Freddy in the next series strangely enough. I think it's a neat figure though.

Character: Toy Bonnie
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Retail only)
A fan favorite of many, they did the figure justice like the rest! The character itself is colorful, so it's great to see this translated into the figure. I like the slightly smug expression on him, since he does seem to be the more active and expressive of the Toy animatronics in the game. They did a good job.

Character: Toy Chica
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Walmart only)
This is a neat figure that I think nearly matches her face in the game (she has a very round face). There's not much more to say, just glad they made her as she's on stage. Like the FNaF Chica, the nice detail of the bib is easily overlooked. I also like they used a unique sculpt for the hair.

Character: Toy Chica (Beakless)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/36 (Retail and Walmart only)
This is the version of Toy Chica you see when she roams off the stage. I always found her beakless version creepier. You see her like this the most throughout the game, so it makes sense to make her. Just like the regular Toy Chica, they did a good job with her.

Character: Toy Chica (Beakless) (Glow)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Hot Topic only)
This is a glow-in-the-dark variant of the beakless Toy Chica. Like the Glow Toy Freddy, this one also isn't from the games or any medium. I guess someone at Funko really likes Toy Chica to have two variants of her and the FNaF 2 Cupcake? Like the Glow Toy Freddy, this one also glows well.

Character: Mangle (Funtime Foxy)
Appearance: FNaF 2
Rarity: 1/12 (Walmart only)
This is Mangle, presumably before being 'mangled'. I like to call this "Funtime Foxy" too (although "Mangle" is most appropriate). This is one of my favorites as both a figure and character! The broken eye socket is a nice touch. I hope they make a 'mangled' version in the future like Nightmare Mangle.

I hope you enjoyed the first part of the FNaF Series 1 Mystery Mini review!  I'll be sure to follow this up with the second part here shortly.  Thanks for your time!
